From the first sketch to the final inspection, every HERBELIN watch is the result of meticulous work.
In our Franche-Comté workshops, time is shaped by hand with uncompromising precision. At every stage, accuracy, rigor, and passion guide our master watchmakers, culminating in a piece of impeccable reliability.
Conception & Design
Each timepiece is born within the Maison's design studio, integrated into our Charquemont workshops. Under the creative direction of Mathieu Herbelin, grandson of the founder, every model is meticulously drawn with the watchmakers who will bring it to life in mind: case proportions, dial, hands – nothing is left to chance or to an external firm.
Prototyping
3D printing allows validation of initial volumes and ergonomics. Then comes the “Zero Unit,” our very first functional prototype. It serves as the basis for refining adjustments, optimizing assembly, and evaluating the final appearance before the pre-series, which will allow for perfecting finishes, optimizing tolerances, and anticipating industrial constraints.
Component sourcing
Each component is selected with absolute rigor: case, dial, hands, crown, crystal, strap, movement. We collaborate exclusively with partners renowned for their excellence and their ability to meet our standards.
Component Control
Upon reception, components are meticulously verified: dimensions, finishes, colorimetry, surface condition. Each automatic movement is regulated by our master watchmakers to optimize its accuracy and minimize drift. Only compliant elements enter production.
Hand-assembled
In our workshops, each watch is assembled by hand by our watchmakers. The dial is carefully affixed to the movement. The hands are individually set with extreme precision to ensure correct indexing and flatness. The movement is integrated into the case, and the middle case and crystal are mounted. The crown stem is fitted into the movement and adjusted to the nearest micron. The oscillating weight is added. Finally, the case back is closed with a gasket, ensuring perfect water resistance.
This delicate stage, performed by our master watchmakers, requires patience, experience, and a perfect command of the watchmaking craft.
Quality Controls
No fewer than 63 control points are implemented throughout the manufacturing process, including:
— Magnified aesthetic inspection (×2.5)
— Technical checks: timekeeping accuracy, water resistance, screw tightness…
No timepiece leaves our workshops without having proven its reliability.
Strap assembly
Our bracelets are designed to last: they are assembled by hand, fitted to the case, and tested for comfort, fit, and durability.

Every HERBELIN watch is the result of a manufacturing process mastered from start to finish, combining technical demands, artisanal rigor, and attention to detail. HERBELIN designs and manufactures watches to be lived in, cherished, and passed down.
